Busy Quinceanera.

I would like to again say sorry for not updating my blog in a while. With high school and various preparations for something really special, I've been super busy.

When I turned 15 in January I was given an ultimatum about how I wanted to spend my birthday. Since my parents are both from a Mexican background, they asked me if I wanted to have a Quinceanera or a trip to anywhere in the world. And let me say it was a really hard decision. At first, I told my parents that I wanted a trip to anywhere in the world, so I started to think about places I'd love to go to like:

Paris

Mexico

Spain

London

And so on... Theres so many places where I'd love to go to in my life and I was so excited that I would be able to start my travels at such a young age. Then I got talking in my 7th period French I Honors class with another hispanic friend of mine about Mexican tradition, pride, and quinceaneras. As we were talking about decorations and color coordinations and surprise dances, I realized I REALLY wanted a quinceanera with a surprise dance, a big puffy ballroom-princess dress, and everything that comes with it. I wanted it all; the experience of being the one and only quinceanera. And even though I'm not a girly girly girl, I could still appreciate girlish traditions and hobbies, I still loved getting dolled up and wearing make-up.

So when I came back home from school I sat down with my mom and told her I had changed my mind. At first she was a bit indecisive but she decided that if thats what I wanted then thats what I'd get. She did reprimand me on my timing since we only had around 4-5 months to put it all together. I told my dad and he agreed with my decision but he was really beating around the bush. Whenever we'd tried to remind him about it but he wouldn't pay much attention, so months past and the original date we had set was fast approaching and we had nothing, nada, zip done. I was really pissed off but at the same time I was super busy with my high school science fair and stressed out with my grades/classes. No one had time to search and start planning the quinceanera, so we held it off until the last month of school. My quinceanera was being planned for the end of August if possible.

Now here we are, being rushed into getting everything together for just one special day. I'm not going into detail of the preparations for the quinceanera until after or even that same week. But so far so good. We have most of it down and covered, theres just a few things left to do. But every second something else happens and we have to fix it and it's so much stress and you need so much patience for it all. Thankfully we have 5 more years until my sister's quinceanera. I will tell you this my dress is in between the colors of blush-peach-coral and its beautifully elegant and not too extravagant. Lemme tell you I LOVE IT!! I know that it's a lot of work for this one day but it's all going to be worth it in the end.

That's it for now I just wanted to mention why I've been so busy lately. I still have around 3 1/2 more weeks till the party, so wish me luck. :D

All my love,
Ana

P.S. For now enjoy an inspiring Taylor Swift song or visit my Pinterest and find my Quinceanerea board, that's where I put the  inspirational quinceanera related things (including things related to my quinceanera).
